Sometimes I Fear the Darkness (The Widow’s Song)
From Kol Neshama’s “Together as One”
Music and lyrics by Levi Garbose and Julia Blum Sebban
Sung by The Widow.
Sometimes I fear the darkness
Sometimes I feel alone,
I’m blinded by the darkness
And forget the light I’ve known.
I cry inside and ask Hashem
To show me where to go,
I cannot see, but He is here,
He’s guiding me, I know.
And so, this night can’t last forever-
The dawn must soon break through
I try to place my trust in G-d
Each day with faith anew.
Yisgadal V’Yiskadash Shemei Rabbah,
We praise Hashem forever,
His name fills us with awe.
Yisgadal V’Yiskadash–
Be magnified and bold,
Light up your world with goodness—
Let Your miracles unfold.
With darkness still around me,
Even loneliness and pain,
I still know with my whole heart and soul
Not one tear has been in vain —
There is a holy vision
One that I’m too small to see,
And each moment of this test
Strengthens the greater part of me.
I see this night won’t last forever,
The dawn must soon break through,
I still will place my trust in G-d
Each day with faith anew.
Yisgadal V’Yiskadash Shemei Rabbah,
We praise Hashem forever,
His name fills us with awe.
Yisgadal V’Yiskadash–
Be magnified and bold,
Light up your world with goodness —
Let Your miracles unfold.
