Kim Blank is a professional choreographer, recently Emmy-nominated for Outstanding Choreography in the HBO telefilm, Dorothy Dandridge, starring Halle Berry. She has choreographed dance sequences for Keri Russell, Madonna and Rupert Everett, Walter Mathhau and Jack Lemmon, in the films Mad About Mambo, The Next Best Thing and Out to Sea, respectively. Kim staged the ballroom sequences in the film Mambo Kings working alongside Michael Peters as associate choreographer. Her love of Latin music and dancing was broadened and deepened through that experience and let to her developing her class, which combines her expertise in teaching fitness, (she taught for Jane Fonda’s Workout for 5 years) with the basic vocabulary of salsa dancing. Kim’s eclectic dance background also includes jazz, as well as ballet, modern, ballroom, latin and the Feldenkrais Method of somatic education. Her teaching style in informed by all of these disciplines, as well as her wide experience designing and and coaching movement for dancers, and so-called non-dancers alike
